Create a Miniature Bookcase Workshop

Join us for a fun and creative crafting event where you'll desgin and decorate your very own minature bookcase inspired by nature and birds!  We'll provide all the materials - participants will install the tiny bookcase and add charming, nature-themed decorations to make it uniquely their own.   Perfect for bird lovers, crafters, and anyone who enjoys a hands-on-project.  Call the store for more info or to register - space is limited! **$15 Per Person**

WBU Joliet Monday Morning Bird Outing

Monday, June 9th - 9AM - at Rock Run Preserve- Black Rd Access

Join us for a June Bird Outing in a local preserve!  Meet us in the parking circle at 9AM.  We will be on the lookout for summer visitors and local resident birds.  Don't forget to bring your optics and to dress for the weather.  Trails are mostly paved, some are made of compressed gravel.  This outing is ideal for bird enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels. Good Steward Ecoscapes In-Person Native Plant Sale

Friday & Saturday, June 13th & 14th  (10AM - 4PM)

Help create habitat in your own yard by adding native plants, shrubs, and trees.  Shop an array of native plants, mostly flowers, during the Good Steward Ecoscapes native plant sale.  Containers will be mostly plugs and gallon sizes, with some pint sizes available.  While you shop, learn how you can entice more pollinators and wildlife to your yard using native plants.  Talk with an expert native plant landscaper for tips and tricks.  Call store for more info. 

Native Plant Container Garden Workshop

Friday, June 13th 5PM - $45 per person - Space is limited, Call store to reserve your spot! 815-744-3800

Join us for a fun hands-on workshop where you'll create your own beautiful native plant container garden - perfect for patios, balconies, small spaces, and more!  Learn about the benefits of native plants and how they support pollinators and birds in your own yard.  Fee includes a fiber pot, soil, and 5 native plants.  Space is limited! Must call store to reserve your spot! This activity is made possible through our partnership with Good Steward Ecoscapes, experts in sustainable landscaping and native plant design.  

St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines Cat Adoption Event

Saturday, June 21st 11-3pm 

Looking for a new best friend?! Come by and consider adopting a feline friend from St. Sophia's Cat Adoption Event at WBU Joliet! St. Sophia's is a non-profit foster-based cat rescue that strives to be the best in temporary care for cats in transition.  Their hope is a forever home for every adoptable cat. Yes! They will have kittens on site.  

Katie's Krafts Pop-Up Shop

Saturday, June 28th 10-4PM

We're thrilled to welcome local crafter Katie Stafford of Katie's Krafts for a special pop-up event at the store.  Shop an array of handcrafted T-shirts and tanks with cute and funny phrases on them, like "Bird Nerd", "Mama Bird", "Easily Distracted by Birds" and handmade windspinners.  Perfect for every bird enthusiast and nature lover!

2025 Be a Trailblazer Challenge

Join the "Be a Trailblazer" digital scavenger hunt that will have you adventuring to and through the Will County preservbes at your own pace and on your own schedule throughout 2025.  Get started by downloading the Goosechase app to your smartphone and joining the "Be a Trailblazer" experience.  Once your in, visit the preserves to complete the dozens of challenges that will have you snapping pics in nature and checking in at various spots in the preserves.  More than $10,000 in prizes will be up for grabs, so start today- don't delay!
