In-Store Presentation: The Secret Love Life of Birds
Saturday, Feb. 1st 11AM
Have you ever seen courtship of nesting behaviors from birds? They are unique to say the least! During this presentation, you will dive into the secret love life of birds with a certified bird feeding specialist from WBU. Learn about the different mating strategies and courship amongst birds. This presentation is perfect for new and experienced birders and you will walk aways knowing more about your feathered friends. Seating may be limited. How-To Participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count
Friday & Saturday, Feb. 7th & 8th 9AM-5PM
What is the Great Backyard Bird Count? and How can you participate? The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a citizen science project to learn about how birds are fairing and anyone can participate in. During these "How-To" days, WBU is available to show you how to participate in the GBBC. Come in anytime from 9AM-5PM on the 7th and 8th and we will help you learn how to ID birds, count birds, and enter your counts on Merlin ID or ebird. The GBBC is great for people of all ages and all expereinces with birding. Call the store for more info (815-744-3800)
WBU Joliet February Bird Outing
Monday, Feb 10th 9:30AM @ Rock Run Preserve- Black Rd. Access
Join us for a Monday morning bird outing in a local preserve. Meet in the parking circle at 9:30AM. We will be on the lookout for resident and over-wintering visitors. Ideal of bird enthusiasts of all ages, experiences, and ability levels. Bring your optics and dress for the weather! - This walk is rain or shine! For questions please call the store (815-744-3800)
In-Store Great Backyard Bird Count
Friday-Monday Feb. 14th-17th
The Great Backyard Bird Count is ON! Visit the store and participate in the store's Great Backyard Bird Count. Your count makes a difference and helps scientists learn more about our feathered friends. Visit the store anytime from 9AM-5PM during our In-Store GBBC to watch and count the birds that visit the feeders. You can then enter your count on ebird as a way to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC).

2025 Be a Trailblazer Challenge
Join the "Be a Trailblazer" digital scavenger hunt that will have you adventuring to and through the Will County preservbes at your own pace and on your own schedule throughout 2025. Get started by downloading the Goosechase app to your smartphone and joining the "Be a Trailblazer" experience. Once your in, visit the preserves to complete the dozens of challenges that will have you snapping pics in nature and checking in at various spots in the preserves. More than $10,000 in prizes will be up for grabs, so start today- don't delay! Missions will be reasleased for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. For more info click HERE!
