In-Store Presentation: All About Hummingbirds , Saturday May 30th 11AM
Join us for an in-store presentation "All About Hummingbirds". Learn interesting facts about these tiny miricles including how they migrate, breed, and forage for food. A bird feeding expert will help you understand how you can make a backyard habitat that welcomes hummingbirds this spring and summer. All are welcome to join this FREE presentation. Xcerses Society at WBU Joliet, Saturday June 6th 11AM - 3PM
Come learn about the Xcerses Society for Invertebrate Conservation! This organization is an international nonprofit organization that protects the natural world through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats. As a science-based organization, they both conduct their own research and rely upon the most up-to-date information to guide their conservation work.Come by WBU Joliet on June 6th to learn more about the importance of insects to our natural world.
Bonner Black Bird Talk & Concert Sunday June 14th
Nashville songwriter and noted birder Bonner Black, described by the American Birding Association as "at the center of a cultural shift in the world of birding" is bringing her music and love of birding to Joliet on June 14 as part of Bishops Hill Winery's "Nashville On The Hill" summer music series! This marks the third year Bishops Hill is presenting award-winning Music City artists in the heart of Joliet at its 1892 limestone castle! Prior to the main show, at 1:00 PM, Bonner will present a bird talk, live performance and meet-and-greet in Bishops Hill's "Vault" room. The talk is a separate ticket from the main concert and can be purchased either separately or in addition to staying for the full "Nashville On The Hill" show. Tickets for the bird talk are $10 and can be arranged and paid for by contacting the winery's music coordinator Tim Placher, via text/call at 815-342-2135 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Tickets for Bonner's bird talk are LIMITED TO 36 SEATS ONLY! So act fast if you'd like to be part of it! Tickets for the main concert are $25 and include a glass of wine with your purchase. WBU Bird Outing, Monday, June 15th 9AM @Rock Run Preserve- Black Rd. Access
Join us for a June Bird Outing in a local preserve! Meet us in the parking circle at 9:00AM. We will be on the lookout for resident birds and spring visitors. CYO Pollinator Container Garden Friday, June 19th 6PM $45 per person
Create your own native plant pollinator container garden with an expert from Possibility Place Nursery! During the workshop, there will be a short presentation and demonstration on how and why to plant native plants. Fee includes container, dirt, and 3-4 locally sourced native plants of your choosing. Build a Bird Feeder Craft for Kids, Saturday, June 20th: Sessions at 11AM & 1PM Cost: $12 per feeder kit
Make your own bird feeder at WBU Joliet and watch the bird feeding frenzy in your own yard! Sessions at 11AM & 1PM - Cost is $12 per feeder kit. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Join us for an in-person presentation to learn all about the wonderful woodpeckers that call our area home. During this presentation you will about their unique adaptations, daily life, and the food and feeders to attract them to your yard to enjoy all year long. 2026 Be a Trailblazer Challenge
Join the "Be a Trailblazer" digital scavenger hunt that will have you adventuring to and through the Will County preservbes at your own pace and on your own schedule throughout 2025. Get started by downloading the Goosechase app to your smartphone and joining the "Be a Trailblazer" experience. Once your in, visit the preserves to complete the dozens of challenges that will have you snapping pics in nature and checking in at various spots in the preserves.
