Saturday, Sept 7th 10AM-12Noon

Learn all about Monarch Butterflies with hands-on self-led activities. Children will learn about the life cycle of butterflies, the pollination process, and the journey of the monarch butterfly. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Call the store for more info (815-744-3800)

Good Steward Ecoscapes Native Plant Pop-Up Shop

Friday & Saturday, Sept 13th & 14th 10am-3pm

Help create habitat in your own yard by adding native plants, small shrubs, and trees for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.  Shop an array of native plant plugs, pints, and gal size containers. Learn how Good Steward Ecoscapes can help you acheive your native plant landscaping dreams.

WBU September Bird Walk

Monday, Sept 16th 9:30AM @ Rock Run Preserve- Black Rd Access

Join us for a Monday morning bird walk in our local Rock Run Preserve.  Meet in the parking circle at 9:30AM.  We will do a quick optics toutorial for those that need a little guidance on how to use binoculars.  We will be on the look out for summer migrant visitors and year-round resident birds.  This walk is perfect for birders of all ages and experiences.  It is recommended to bring your own paid or optics and to dress for the weather.   Call the store for more details or questions (815-744-3800)

Fall Feeder Cleaning Event

Saturday, Sept 21st 10am- 3pm

We are cleaning up...bird feeders that is! The Will County Audubon Society will be on site to help us get your feeders squeaky clean.  Come get your feeders cleaned and learn how beneficial and easy it is to clean feeders at home.  Suggested $3 donation per feeder will go to the Will Co. Audubon Society. Stay and shop while your feeders are being cleaned, or we can call you when they are finished.  For questions please call the store (815-744-3800)

PJ's PIX Pop-Up Shop

Come meet local photographer and owner of PJ's PIX, Peggy Johnson.  View and shop her collection of photos, blank photo notecards, and more.  Photos are taken from her own backyard to across the country.  Most of her collection features birds, flowers, butterflies, and barns.  Stop by and support this local photographer.

2024 Take It Outside Challenge

Complete nature-themed missions ranging from GPS check-ins at various locations, photos of nature scenes and wildlife, selfies and trivia questions during this year long Will County Forest Preserve District program.  Complete seasonal challenged to win prizes from forest preserve merch, mastercard gift cards ($50-$250), and bird feeding prize packs.  Participants should download the Goosechase smartphone app from the App Store or Google Play.  Each Sunday, during the challenges, 10 missions will be released and participants will complete challenges to earn points and prizes.  Search for each seasonal challenge by name, or enter the join codes listed below.  Point totals will be listed on a leaderboard in the app so you can see how you and others are doing in the competition.  For more info click HERE!
